“ . . . what strikes me the
most about him is the single
driving force behind his
work, an insatiable drive for
excellence, a fervent desire
to touch the human spirit.
His view of the world and
sense of calling flows
through the canvas.”
Quote from an article in
Curator Magazine by
Prof. Andrea Fiori

bout the Artist:
Born during the Art Deco era, the realization
that all the arts were going to become a major
focus in my life became evident early on.
Creativity had taken new directions. Works by
Rockwell Kent and Parrish, along with the likes
of Gershwin and Wright were being applauded
by the critics and the press. It would influence
my perspectives, giving me permission to color
outside the lines. I’ve been doing so ever since.
Most work is done in the studio, which is usually
filled with music. The visual arts and music seem
to readily intertwine. Rachmaninoff and Mahler
are personal favorites, providing a backdrop that
is especially inspiring as well as motivating.
My preference is to paint large works using oil or
watercolor. Pallets are usually limited with much
attention paid to composition and overall design.
A painting is very much like theater, evoking like
emotions, demanding much from both the artist
and audience in terms of input.
Other interests include piano and aviation, both
of which have been significant to me. Home is in
a rural area of New Jersey, halfway between the
cities of New York and Philadelphia . . . It’s quiet
and green with an abundance of superb light.
